March 25 in the State Kremlin Palace will be a grand "Jackson & Houston show." Show must go on ". Dantanio and Belinda Davis, who for many years are the best performers of the songs of Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston, for the first time in Russia they will sing the legendary hits of their idols. Symphony Orchestra of Moscow "Russian Philharmonic" will present a new sound to unforgettable songs.

On the eve of the concert, Dantanio and Belinda Davis told the correspondent of the Moscow 24 portal what their creative path was and what to expect from the new show.
Tell me, how it all began: how did the idea to act as such cult figures come to mind?

Dantanio:

My fascination with the work of Michael Jackson began when I was nine years old. I saw my brother dancing to the song Do not stop till you get enough. It was this moment that inspired me and, I think, very seriously affected me.

I have been performing his hits since I was 15 years old. For 20 years now I have been acting as Michael Jackson. Michael will always be my favorite of all time. And no one can surpass him.

Belinda Davids:

From an early age, I worshiped Whitney Houston. For 25 years I have performed her songs, I touch through music to her amazing world.

Who told you for the first time that you are like Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston?

Dantanio:

When I was 14-15 years old, I acted as Jackson at the spring fair at my school. And after this performance all the children began to call me "Mr. Jackson." For me it was a great honor.

Belinda Davids:

In childhood, my friends thought that I was very similar to Houston, they even started calling me that: "Whitney, Whitney, Whitney!" Some people did not let me take a step until I performed their favorite song. Later, the producer reminded me of similarities.

And how is the casting performed for the role of famous personalities?

Dantanio:

I passed many castings and auditions. I was ready to give up everything when my video came to the producers of the show. Luck smiled at me, I was chosen from more than 1500 other performers in the "Michael Jackson Show"!

Belinda Davids:

I think that at least 15 thousand people participated in the casting. Listening took four weeks, first I was asked to perform three songs, then five. The next step was a performance in the costume of Whitney Houston.

And here I was faced with a problem. I had no costume, I did not think about it at all, I was pregnant ... But I was not at a loss! I tore my perfectly regular jeans, put on a shiny top, and so I stepped onto the stage. And what do you think? After the performance, the producer came up to me and said: "Okay, we have lots of applicants, but I'm already so tired of all of them. But you ... We choose you!" Can you imagine how I felt at that moment? Probably, it's hard to imagine. Immense happiness. Simply immeasurable happiness!

How do you usually prepare for the performance?

Dantanio:

I make up myself to be like Michael. Then I pray. I perform special vocal exercises, and again and again I lose the performance in my head. The important point: I prefer to prepare in silence. It helps me connect with my Qi, with my emotional center.

Belinda Davids:

And I listen to Whitney's songs, watch her video, and before I go on stage I imagine her, I remember all the emotions that caused me her songs, her fate, her life.

How did the first time Jackson and Houston fans react to you?

Dantanio:

Oh, I'll never forget that. We performed in Singapore, and we were very warmly welcomed after the show. Some fans told me that during my speech they needed to remind myself that I was not Michael Jackson.

Belinda Davids:

Wherever we speak, tickets are bought up instantly. We are always terrificly met. I think that people are still bored by Whitney Houston, by her voice, by her music, by her energy. And I remember at one of the first concerts the audience shouted to me: "Whitney, Whitney!" As if I was her. This is madness. And it's such a frantic applause, just wow. One fan gave me a portrait depicting me in the image of Whitney Houston. I really appreciate such gifts, the picture hangs in my house.

What do you think, how will they meet you in Russia? And what do you expect in general from a trip to Moscow?

Dantanio:

I hope that the audience will enjoy our performance. I will be glad to make new friends.

Belinda Davids:

This is for me a completely new audience, a new culture, a new music industry. I do not know what to expect. But I think that everything will go perfectly.

You have chosen a rather dangerous genre, many actors are afraid for this role to lose their true self. Have you ever thought about this?

Dantanio:

I believe that this role chose me. I pay tribute to the memory of the legend, the great performer, at the same time I remain true to myself, my own personality.

Belinda Davids:

I will never lose myself. I'm not going to be Houston, she's my idol. And I always share the stage and personal life: it seems to me that these lines should not overlap. I have my own world, family, friends, relatives and people close to me. Therefore, I am sure that I will never enter the role so much that I will lose myself.

Why did you prefer this particular genre?

Dantanio:

I am very versatile, I can work in different musical styles and genres. However, the pop genre has always been more dominant throughout the world. Being an artist means not only perfect singing, but also dancing, keeping yourself on the stage.

Belinda Davids:

I wanted to combine my dreams, I was looking for something special that would help me do it. And Whitney Houston helped me. It is this role that unites everything in me, makes me feel, go on a professional level, become a world famous artist.

Have you personally met Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston?

Dantanio:

I, unfortunately, did not have the opportunity to meet with him. But I received a compliment from the late President Nelson Mandela, who told me that I remind him of Michael. It was a great compliment.

Belinda Davids:

Unfortunately, I did not have the opportunity not to meet Whitney Houston, but even to attend her concert. I was brought up in a very strict family, I was allowed to stay at home, go to school and, of course, go to church. No concerts!

What are you most surprised and admired in these people?

Dantanio:

I admire his endurance and passion. He did not give up, continued to solve all the problems that fell on him. His perfection is unrivaled. And most of all I love attention to detail in it.

Belinda Davids:

She was a very strong person, whatever happened to her. At the end of life, unfortunately, is not so strong ... But she went through all the vicissitudes of fate. She lived under such pressure: as I imagine, everything inside of me is compressed. And again: she had a very clean, open heart.

What do you have in common with your idols?

Dantanio:

I also love sweets. Like Michael, I grew very shy, always embarrassed in the company of girls. Especially when they started to flirt.

Belinda Davids:

We have a lot in common, for example, we had a similar upbringing. The house is a church - a house, I understand it very well.

Your favorite hit by Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston? When did you first hear this song?

Dantanio:

I think that Billie. I heard it when I was nine years old.

Belinda Davids:

I do not have one favorite composition. When I start listening to Whitney Houston, I just can not stop. The iconic song for me is The Greatest Love of All. I performed this song before Whitney, it's a composition of George Benson. I was five years old, my grandmother put a white dress on me, neatly combed my long hair, took me to the church and brought me to the stage. When I sang, everyone, absolutely all cried. It's unforgettable.

And then I heard Whitney perform the song, and they were just "stars in my head", some incredible radiance from her voice, from her performance.

If you had met Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston now, what would you say to them?

Dantanio:

Thank you for never giving up. And I'm sorry that we did not understand you and condemned you so quickly.

Belinda Davids:

I would say "thank you for helping me to reveal my talent, thanks for your music". Thanks to Whitney Houston, I realized: with the music you can go through absolutely everything.
