In memory of Svetlanov at the Grand Hall of the Conservatory

On October 16 a concert in memory of Evgeny Svetlanov was performed at the Grand Hall of the Conservatory to celebrate the 85th birthday of the distinguished Soviet conductor. Moscow City Symphony – Russian Philharmonic was conducted by Alexander Vakoulsky, who had been working for 10 years as guest conductor with State Academic Symphony Orchestra  that was led by E.F. Svetlanov. The concert featured soloist Narek Hakhnazaryan, the winner of the 14th Tchaikovsky Competition. The program included S. Rachmaninoff’s Third Symphony, A. Glazunov’s Raymonda Suite, Minstrel’s Song, and P. Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme, for cello and orchestra.
