Classics and modern art
Confirming the status of the orchestra of new millennium, Moscow City Symphony – Russian Philharmonic introduces large-scale innovative project «Classics and modern art» — performing Symphony № 9 by L. van Beethoven with photo installations. The orchestra is not afraid of experiments, but it never distorts the essence of compositions making excellent quality the corner-stone.
The Ninth Symphony is the greatest composition by Beethoven which finalizes his twenty five-year symphonic way. It became a part of world culture history as one of the most significant creations which express humanistic freedom-loving ideals of humanity. Only symphony orchestra was not enough for Beethoven to realize his grandiose idea – he wanted to sing brotherhood of millions, brotherhood of all people of the world united by common burst of joy and freedom, that’s why he included chorus and soloists singing «Ode to Joy» by Schiller.
German photographer and musician Tobias Melle is creating his compositions in images within 20 years. His visual interpretations of well-known musical pieces make them multivariate. The Four Seasons by A. Vivaldi, Alpine Symphony by R. Strauss, Symphony № 5 by P.Tchaikovsky, Symphony «From the New World» by A. Dvorak were performed in such way in many cities of Germany, Switzerland, and USA.
The 9th Symphony by L. van Beethoven is the latest project of T. Melle. Its premiere took place on April 7 and 9, 2012 in Munich. Photo installations which reflect contemporary life of 15 largest cities of the world were used for implementation of this project.
