Bandoneon is one of the main instruments of Argentinian tango. There is no tango without bandoneon. Argentinians say. Born in Germany bandoneon was brought to Argentina at the end of the 19th century and became a part of tango-orchestras. According to art critic Oscar Zucchi, this instrument’s peculiarity is that when one opens the bellow the sounding is remarkable and clear, and with closing the sounds become muffled and husky. So, endless string of bliss and sin happens… Astor Piazzolla is one of the most famous bandoneon player and composer. He transformed folk music into high art. He made tango be played by symphony orchestras. Piazzolla managed to single out the essence of tango, to sublimate its aggressive eroticism and to create a new genre of high music which now is acknowledged everywhere. You will listen to the most well-known pieces by Piazzolla such as Libertango, Oblivion, Adios Nonino, Milonga del Angel and others.
