Composers from different countries devoted their compositions to sunny Spain. Bolero is one of the most well-known compositions not only within Ravel’s creative work, but within all symphonic music of the 20th century. The author himself characterized it as follows: “It is a dance in very restrained tempo, absolutely invariable in its melody, harmony and rhythm, and rhythm is beaten by the drum. Orchestra crescendo introduces the only element of diversity”. Rhythmical figure, repeated a lot of time, makes hypnotic influence on listeners, and the main musical theme which is growing dynamically because of new instruments, it demonstrates emotional growth tension. The score of Bolero is called “miracle of orchestration”. Popularity of this composition really has no boundaries. It’s included in repertoire of the majority of world orchestras and conductors.

Spanish Capriccio is one more masterpiece of symphonic music. The premiere of Capriccio took place during the concert of Russian Symphony Society under the author’s baton, on October 31, 1887. It was a great success. Already at the first rehearsal the orchestra applauded the composer. All parts of the suite are based on original themes from “Collection of Folk Songs and Dances” of Jose Insenga which have given “rich material for using various orchestra effects”, for example, imitation of guitar sound, a gold mine of percussion (castanets in the final), skilful usage of solo instruments opportunities.

Concerto for guitar and orchestra “Aranjuez” which brought world-wide glory to Spanish composer Joaquin Rodrigo is genuine masterpiece of modern guitar art.

Alexander Zakharov – soloist of the State Academic Bolshoy Theatre of Russia. The singer’s repertoire includes the following parts: Luigi (The Cloak by Puccini), Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni by Mozart), Ferrando (Women Are Like That by Mozart), Sesto (Julius Caesar by Handel), etc. In 2005 he made his debut at the Bolshoy Theatre in the part of Bardolfo (Falstaff by Verdi). Together with the Bolshoy Theatre Alexander Zakharov toured in Germany, Italy, France, Switzerland, Japan. The singer gives recitals all over Russia as well. Prize winner of the II Prize “Tenors of Russia” Competition (Moscow, 2001). Honoured Artist of the Republic of Ingushetia (2006).
