Nowadays music by Bach is no less in demand than in the last century and the century before last. During his lifetime Bach wasn’t actually evaluated. After death he was forgotten very soon. Outburst of interest in Bach in the XIX century first of all is connected with the name of Mendelssohn. Execution of the “St. Matthew Passion” in Leipzig in 1829 became a real triumph – genuine revival of music by the greatest composer history had ever known. Since then Bach was never forgotten, with the passing of the years he was becoming more and more famous. In the 19th century, in the 20th, and now, at the beginning of the 21st century Bach’s music is modern more than ever. No disturbances could shake love of humanity to Bach. Bach with his profoundness and tragedy is particularly close to a person of our time who has passed through sufferings and disruptions of the 20th century. Well-known clavier and violin concertos by Bach will be executed at the concert, accompanied not by chamber, but by full symphony orchestra.

Maxim Fedotov - Russian violinist and conductor, laureate and prize-winner of the major international violinists’ contests (named after P. Tchaikovsky, N. Paganini, international contest in Tokyo), People’s Artist of Russia, Moscow City Government Prize Laureate, professor of the Moscow Conservatory – will be violinist-soloist at this concert.

Galina Petrova is Russian pianist – soloist and ensemble performer, Honoured Artist of Russia (2001), Moscow Government Prize laureate (2003). Her mastership is distinguished for “superb piano mastery combined with wonderful music intellectuality and artistic charm” (“La Voce del Popolo”).
