“Cardinal advantage (or, if you would like – disadvantage)of my life has always been pursuit of original, my own music language. I hate imitation, I hate trite devices…” (S. Prokofiev)

Outstanding composer, pianist, and conductor S. Prokofiev (1891 – 1953) is one of those who formed glory of Russian music of the XX century. Prokofiev worked in many genres and in each of them left examples of unchallenged perfection. His creative heritage includes operas, oratorios and cantatas, ballets and symphonies, instrumental concertos and miniatures, chamber vocal compositions and music to films. “Music of Cinderella is one of the best compositions by Prokofiev. This music contains wide range of emotions, multitude of feeling nuances: from subtle humour to wonderful lyric adagio listening to which you are filled with a sense that you embrace the whole universe, the whole world…” (M. Pletnev)

Symphony-concerto for cello and orchestra amazes by significance of concept, profoundness, and richness of the score. Solo part is of primary importance not only in virtuoso and concert terms, but also in creative respect. It is written with brilliance and inventiveness (Symphony-concerto was created in close cooperation with M. Rostropovich whose assistance was invaluable). Richest tone and technical qualities of cello are used with maximum density.

Alexander Zababurkin graduated from Moscow State Conservatory named after P. Tchaikovsky (class of Professor N. Shahovskaya). At the age of 13 he performed with orchestra for the first time at the Grand Hall of the Moscow Conservatory. Prize-winner of the International Competition “Virtuosos of the 21 century” (Moscow, 1998, 2 Prize), prize-winner of the III Competition “Young Talents of Russia” (1999, 2 Prize), prize-winner of the International Competition of “Classical Heritage” Association (2000, 1 Prize). With pianist M. Shatalkin he won the Chamber Ensembles Competition in Thessaloniki (Greece, 2005). In 2006 he received the 1 Prize and Special Prize “The Best Stringed Musician” at the Chamber Duets Competitions in Katrineholm (Sweden). He toured in Greece, Sweden, Germany, Spain, Canada, Brazil, etc. In 2008 he was awarded by the Prize of Central Federal District of the Russian Federation for achievements in art.
